Apart from twinning two perfect products, why is this also obviously an excellent Christmas gift? The devil is in the detail - both these brands are genuinely plastic free* which is not something that can be said for most cosmetics.

The all-natural face cleansing balm from Up Circle shines with the golden colour of apricots, and is perfect for every day use and make-up removal.

Using repurposed ingredients, this cleanser is suitable for all skin types, drawing out pollution and impurities, leaving the skin soothed and hydrated.

Because the cleanser contains candelilla wax it is certified 100% vegan. It is also cruelty-free, and UK-made.

Also made from Apricots, Fair Squared's gentle facial scrub combines the anti-ageing properties of green tea with the moisture-giving richness of apricot kernel oil. It exfoliates to remove dead skin cells for a healthier, more vibrant complexion.

It contains organic and fair trade ingredients and is free of animal products. Certified by Fair Trade, Natrue, the Vegan Society and is Halal. CO2 Neutral through Climate Partner.

*On our request UpCircle kindly removed the plastic EPE liner from the bottle lid of their packaging. The product lives on happily without it. Fair Squared uses a fair trade rubber EPE liner.

You can also compost the cardboard box, by soaking it, cutting it into little pieces and placing it in your composter.

Facial Scrub:

Fair Squared have thought a lot about the afterlife of its products by introducing their Zero Waste range. Yes, you can send the glass, paper and aluminium lid for recycling if you want to, but these guys have made it possible to take things to the next level by going circular.

Collect ten of their Zero Waste containers to send back to them for refill, and they'll send you a voucher for 10 € off your next order. Go here for more.

Extra special kudos to them for replacing unrecyclable plastic EPE liners with Fair Trade rubber ones. Because of this, we love them forever.

Natural rubber does biodegrade, albeit slowly. If you're not going to take part in their Zero Waste refill scheme, please cut the rubber into the tiniest little pieces possible and place in your home composter, dig into your garden bed, or put in with the black bin rubbish.

The Cleanser: At the end of the day use the cleansing balm to break down make-up, SPF and any additional oils (sebum or sweat) on the skin's surface.

Massage the balm between fingers before applying it to the face and neck in circular motions. Remove with a warm damp cloth.

If necessary, follow with a water-based cleanser, such as facial soap to tackle any additional impurities in the pores.

Suitable for daily use.

The Facial Scrub:

Cleanse your face and rinse with warm water beforehand. Take a dab of the scrub with your finger and spread over your face and neck. Then gently massage in using a circular motion for no more than a minute. Take care not to rub too hard, or get the scrub in your eyes.

Rinse with warm water, pat dry your face and moisturise.
